United Way Worldwide, a prominent non-profit organization, collaborates with over 1,200 local offices nationwide to enhance communities through fundraising and support. In partnership with the San Antonio office, VND undertook the challenge of automating internal processes for the event planning team. Our mission was to digitalize outdated systems and implement efficient business process automation, ultimately elevating the organization’s impact on local communities.
Through close collaboration with United Way Worldwide’s San Antonio office, VND designed and developed a custom web-based solution. This solution seamlessly integrates with in-house databases through web services, creating a user-friendly portal for managing text reminders, alerts, challenge questions via text messages, and event scheduling. Key project highlights include UI/UX development, custom API development for database integration, extensive use of Twilio API for challenge/response systems, and a mobile-responsive interface for seamless use on any device.

Harnessing the power of the Twilio API, we implemented a robust text messaging system that revolutionized communication within United Way Worldwide’s event planning processes. This integration allowed for the automated sending of text reminders, alerts, and challenge questions, streamlining engagement with event attendees. By leveraging Twilio’s capabilities, we created a dynamic and interactive messaging platform that enhances attendee participation and engagement.
To ensure widespread accessibility and convenience, we adopted a mobile-first approach in our design and development. Our mobile-responsive interface adapts seamlessly to various devices and screen sizes, including smartphones and tablets. This adaptability guarantees that event planning and management can be conducted effortlessly on-the-go, without compromising functionality or user experience. Whether on a desktop or a mobile device, the solution remains fully functional and user-friendly, accommodating the preferences of all stakeholders.
