VND developed Spotship, a secure, AI-powered shipping assistant that lets users calculate and understand shipping requirements through natural-language conversation instead of navigating complex forms and calculation tools. The solution is built on Microsoft Azure AI Foundry with Azure OpenAI GPT-4.1-mini, which provides fast responses, large-context processing and enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure.

Key capabilities

• Natural-language shipping queries. Users describe what they need to ship and interact with the system conversationally.
• Shipping calculations. The AI works from the information the user provides and the business rules built into the application.
• Large-context processing. GPT-4.1-mini handles substantial amounts of shipping information, rules and supporting data when required.
• Fast interactive responses. The model is tuned for low latency and cost efficiency, which suits real-time customer and internal use.
• Privacy-oriented architecture. Queries are processed inside the organization Azure environment and are not used to train public AI models, subject to Microsoft Azure OpenAI data-handling policies and the specific Azure configuration.

Technical overview

The application combines generative AI with structured business logic. The AI interprets the shipping request, and the calculation logic applies the appropriate shipping rules: user query, AI interpretation, shipping data and business rules, calculation engine, AI response. Users get a natural-language experience while the underlying rules and calculations stay under the application control.
