Description

The NASA STEM Educator Professional Development Collaborative is a project led in collaboration with Texas State University. After receiving a sizable grant from NASA, the Texas State University STEM department needed a scalable website to accommodate rapid changes to both curriculum and the growing audience of educators visiting the portal. Between needing newsletters, daily updates, and a syndication of multiple resources across different platforms, the request was hefty.

Solution

Through the use of RESTful APIs, VND was able to sync EPDC’s new WordPress site with their existing eTouches platform, connecting their remote staff to the site automatically. This project features:

  • WordPress CMS implementation: Staff can edit and post content on what has
    become a greatly visited website with over 30,000 pageviews per month. Users
    receive automated events and resources newsletter every month
  • WCAG 2.0 Accessibility Implementation was implemented to allow people with
    impairments to browse the website
  • A mobile responsive website design was implemented to adapt to any device screen
  • Installed new plugins to improve user interfaces
  • Content layout improvement
  • Custom API implementation with digital badging system
  • Provided a full migration to a private cloud hosted at the VND data center in San
    Antonio, Texas. The site was built to grow on a clustered hosting environment, able
    to support the high traffic demand

Results

Staff can edit and post content on what has become a greatly visited website with over 10,000 pageviews per month, and users receive an automated events and resources newsletter every month.

Natividad

Natividad Website View

Description

Natividad Medical Center is a Level II Trauma Center providing inpatient, outpatient, emergency, diagnostic and specialty medical care to treat the most severe and critical injuries in, Salinas, CA. Owned and operated by Monterey County, CA, Natividad is a 172-bed, acute-care hospital providing health care services to county residents for more than 131 years. Natividad was in need of a solid technology partner to provide web development services to enhance their online presence as well as to provide web server hosting for the years to come.

Solution

VND created two websites for Natividad, a public website, and an internal “intranet” website only accessible by the center’s staff. The public website contains information for the public about Natividad, their staff, as well as, the services offered, while the intranet provides secure access to private content for staff use. Natividad’s website has a new and modern look. Their website in now responsive and can adjust to any screen. User interfaces were upgraded, the content layout was improved, and SEO was revised and improved to increase site performance

Vantage Bank Texas

Description

San Antonio-based Vantage Bank Texas has more than $1.6 billion in deposits and $1.9 billion in assets, making it the fourth-largest bank with headquarters in San Antonio when ranked by total assets. Having undergone a recent merger in 2018, the bank has now more than 480 employees, according to reports on file with the Federal Deposit  Insurance Corp. The bank was in need of a technology company who can manage its growing web presence, as well as to provide reliable web server hosting.

Solution

The easy-to-navigate but visually appealing website makes it simple to find needed content and the client portal allows customers to access their banking information in a highly secure online platform. In addition to designing and developing their website, VND also managed the search engine optimization (SEO) of the new site, which included claiming and managing all of the company’s physical locations on Google Maps. United Way Worldwide

Description

United Way is a non-profit organization that works with almost 1,200 local United Way offices throughout the country in a coalition of charitable organizations to pool efforts in fundraising and support for improving each local community. The local San Antonio office was in need to automate internal processes used by the event planning team. The goal was to digitalize outdated systems and provide business process automation.

Solution

VND provided a custom web-based solution which interfaces with in-house databases using web services to provide a seamless portal for in house management of text reminders, alerts, challenge questions via text messages and scheduling for special event attendees. This project features:

  • UI/UX Development
  • Custom API Development: Created custom interfaces for web application to sync
    with internal/proprietary databases
  • Text API: Worked with the Twilio API extensively to provide a full fledged
    challenge/response system.
  • A mobile responsive interface design was implemented to adapt to any device
    screen.

Monterey Bay Community Power

Description

Monterey Bay Community Power (MBCP) was formed in February 2017, to provide locally-controlled, carbon-free electricity to residents and businesses in Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties through the Community Choice Energy (CCE) model established by the State of California. The organization was in need or a redesign and was looking for a strong technology partner to work with.

Solution

VND is scheduled to launch a new version of the utility company’s website on May, 2019. The new website will contain upgraded user interface, content, layout and SEO:
